privacy policy

Policies are inherited from May First/People Link and the MFPL membership Statement of Unity. Data should be shared and public. For those with user accounts on this wiki, your information is protected insofar as mediawiki has been written to protect it. One possible exception is that May First/People Link supports the principle of sharing contact information between organizations and movements for the purposes of building stronger movements, meaning if you go beyond a user account on this wiki and ask me for an email address at this domain, you'll get emails related to MFPL membership, of which you can opt-out later. Short of that, any information that you chose to share on your user page is openly published and available to any viewers of this site and may also be picked up by "bots" like search engines. But, you as an individual or organization should have control over how and with who your personal information is shared, so if you're uneasy about your identity being associated with editing pages on this site, you can delete your account or change your name and/or email address to an anonymous one. Mediawiki logs IP addresses, however, in the case of, and any request less or greater than, court subpoena, a request for IP address information will not be heeded. The server on which this website is run uses hard disk encryption. That means that the contents of the hard disks cannot be read without a password. Disk encryption creates an obstacle to anyone attempting to access information on a May First/People Link server by seizing the physical server. In-transit encryption https, or secure http, is not used on this site, so anything that you submit or view could be intercepted by someone else.
