Lady's Hands, Lion's Heart: A Midwife's Saga is a memoir written by
Carol Leonard. It is the story of a young midwife who trains with a country doctor, falls in love with her back-up obstetrician and ultimately becomes a leader in the struggle to reclaim the profession of midwifery in the United States. Carol Leonard is a New Hampshire Certified Midwife and one of the co-founders of the Midwives Alliance of North America. She has been practicing for over 30 years and has delivered approximately 1,200 babies safely at home.

The New Space for Women's Health and
Choices in Childbirth. New Space for Women's Health is a non-profit organization working to improve maternity care by establishing an independent, freestanding center for birth, and women's health care, opening in midtown Manhattan in 2011.
Choices in Childbirth is a non-profit consumer advocacy group working to the educate the public about maternity care and women's options in choosing where and with whom to birth. Choices in Childbirth annually publishes the NY, Philadelphia and National editions of The Guide to a Healthy Birth. All donations tonight will go to these efforts to improve maternity care in the United States.
