Footage: Mallory Knodel, Canon HV20 HVD Editing: Mallory Knodel, Final Cut Pro The festival "Leave Them in Peace!" Was built around a symbolic date, March 19, the 5-year anniversary since the United States and its allies invaded Iraq, causing chaos in a country already severely affected by the first Gulf War and 10 years of embargo. Using the pretext of the war against terrorism the major powers ensure the control of strategic regions which result in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. Such is the case in Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine ... After statements by Bernard Kouchner, French minister of Foreign and European Affairs, affirming the need to prepare for war with Iran, the French army will install a new military base in the United Arab Emirates and send troops to Afghanistan. All this clearly shows the new direction of France and its chairman falling behind policy G. Bush and his theory of "clash of civilizations." More than ever we must stop these rhetorics of war which lead the world into barbarism. The rally on Saturday is not only a message of solidarity with all oppressed peoples by the "tappers in the world" but is also a step toward building a movement of opposition to war capable of carrying values of solidarity, justice, and demands:
  • The immediate end to the illegal occupation of Iraq, which has caused hundreds of thousands of deaths and displaced millions of people, including the withdrawal of all foreign troops and the transfer complete sovereignty to the Iraqi people and their representatives.
  • The cessation of any preparations for an attack on Iran and the commitment to resolve all issues exclusively through diplomatic means.
  • A withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan to enable the Afghan people to determine their own future.
  • Justice for the Palestinian people and an end to the Israeli aggression through the Middle East.
During this assembly, "La Guerre Tue" organized a theater action. A staged action will awaken the people of the Capitol square in Toulouse to the realities of the occupation and the need to resist.
