A young activist says in an interview "In Brazil, abortion is not legalized and it should be legalized." Other inequalities exist in Brazil such as equal pay for equal work. Participants of the 2009 World Social Forum saw many spontaneous marches such as this one throughout the WSF decentralized space. Demonstrations and actions in these open spaces were a positive contribution to the organized workshops and panels that were officially listed in the forum's program. "Activist, ground-up demonstrations in the open are a good balance to the formality of workshops in dedicated university classrooms," one activist observed.
